Rory O’Connor is an Irish writer, editor and film optimist who has covered the European
Festival circuit since 2012. When not watching movies, he is probably watching sports or TV.

Experience and Education

Rory has been a contributor to The Film Stage for over a decade where he annually covers a
wide range of festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Locarno. His writing and
interviews have also appeared in Frieze, Interview Magazine, Slant, Cinevue, and The
Playlist.

Rory is a graduate of the National University of Ireland Maynooth where he studied Music
Technology.

Favourite Movies and TV Shows

Some of Rory’s favorite movies of all time include The Fly (David Cronenberg), Far From
Heaven (Todd Haynes), Heat (Michael Mann), anything by James Cameron, and more
recently the films of Alice Rohrwacher and Albert Serra. On most days he believes that Mad
Men is the most complete TV show ever made. On other days it’s Lost.
